Immigrant Visa Processing - The National Visa Center (NVC)

The National Visa Center (NVC) collects immigrant visa application forms, Affidavit of Support forms, and fee payments for U.S. Embassies and U.S. Consulates, well in advance of the visa applicant’s interview.

Fee Collection

At the appropriate time, the NVC will send the Affidavit of Support fee invoice to the petitioner and the Immigrant Visa Processing fee invoice to the applicant (or the applicant's designated agent). If an attorney is representing the applicant, the attorney will receive both invoices.

If you need to submit payment, you have two options:

Online Payment

Fee payments to the National Visa Center are made through the Consular Electronic Application Center's Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center.

When paying online:

1. You will need the following information from the fee letter that you received from the NVC:

• Case Number
• Invoice Identification Number

You will also need:

•your bank's routing number
•your checking (or savings) account number

If you are paying from your checking account, this information is available on the bottom of one of your checks. Additional guidance on locating this information will be available when you pay online and is available in the Fee Payment FAQ

2. Go to www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and click the "Fee Collection" link, then click on the Online Fee Payment to be brought to the Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center. Please note that online payments can only be accepted from checking or savings accounts held at a United States financial institution.

3. Three days after making the online payment(s) you must:

a. Return to the Online Payment website to view your payment receipt, which will give you instructions for the next step. You can print a copy for your records. DO NOT send a copy to the NVC.

b. Print a copy of the "Document Cover Sheet" for each fee paid, or save a PDF copy to print later.

b.1. Go back to the receipt page and click the "Go to Affidavit of Support Processing Instructions" link and follow the instructions displayed for each sponsor.

b.2. When the IV fee status indicates PAID, follow the link to "Applicant Document Processing Instructions", and follow the instructions displayed for each sponsor.

4. Payers who are unable to pay online must follow alternate payment instructions.

Questions about online payment? If you still have questions, see the National Visa Center Fee Payment FAQs for more information.

Note: If it is the applicant's intention to adjust status with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), please contact the National Visa Center before taking further action or making any payment.

Alternative Payment Method

If you are unable to pay online you must pay by cashier’s check or money order:

1. You will need the Fee Bill(s) provided to you by the NVC bearing the applicant's case number and bar code. Note: If you have misplaced your fee bill, please contact the NVC. DO NOT send a fee payment without the fee bill.

2. Place the Fee Bill(s) along with a cashier's check or money order made payable to the Department of State in an envelope addressed to the NVC.

3. Affidavit of Support (AOS) Payments MUST be mailed to the following address:

National Visa Center
PO Box 790135
St. Louis, MO 63179-0135

NOTE:
When you are combining fee payment for one payment by cashier's check or money order see Number 5 below for the mailing address.

4. Immigrant Visa (IV) Application Processing Fee Payments MUST be mailed to the following address:

National Visa Center
PO Box 790136
St. Louis, MO 63179-0136

5. AOS and IV fees can be paid together. Make sure the cashier's check or money order is prepared for the total dollar amount of the fees. Again, all payments must be accompanied by the corresponding Fee Bills. Mail the combined fee payment to the following address:

National Visa Center
PO Box 790136
St. Louis, MO 63179-0136

6. Before mailing your payment, please review the following:

• The NVC cannot accept personal or attorney/firm check(s).
• If you wish to send your payment via an overnight mail courier service, please note that only the U.S. Postal Service provides such delivery service to post office boxes.
• Use only the addresses specified above for fee payments.
• Send only the payment and fee bill to the St. Louis, MO address.
• Do not send any other documents to the St. Louis, MO address.
• Do not send any documents to the Portsmouth, NH address until they are requested.
• Do not forget to put the correct postage on the envelope.
• Write the applicant's case number in the memo section of the check.

7. After the check/money order has been cashed, the NVC will mail you instructions for completing the next step in the immigrant visa process.

Important Notices:

• If you will be applying for your immigrant visa in the United States by adjusting your status with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), you should contact the National Visa Center before taking further action or making payments.

• Do not pay fees or submit documents until the NVC sends the fee invoice, generally sent by e-mail. If you do not have an e-mail address, then it is mailed.

• Next Steps- After you have paid your fees, follow the detailed instructions in the “Document Collection” section below.

You'd waste a lot less of Lady Hawk's web space, which she has to pay for, if you posted just the link.

But wait - the information and link are already posted on this web site!

She asked me to do this. She wants to see a detailed instruction and procedure with the link in IV Processing at NVC stage. Am not posting just for the heck of it.

No harm done. I understand your concern.
