Interview experiences should be posted in the respective'Interview Experience Forum'.

Hi there, I have found this forum to be a great help to me during the visa application process so I thought i would quickly post a thread for our experience filing for my husband's immigrant visa here in Italy.. He had his interview today in Naples, all went well and he was awarded the visa YAY (ill try and post a visa interview recap in the interview section once my husband gives me all the details)

Anyway, here is our time line. Hope it is helpful to someone out there :)

06 March 2010  - mailed i-130  petition to Rome  <a href='http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis' target='_blank' class='gal' onmouseover='GAL_popup(this,"1", 200, "style=\"border: 1pt solid #000000;\"", "US Citizenship & Immigration Services", "style=\"background: #FFFFCC;padding: 2px;font-size: 12px;\"");' onmouseout='GAL_hidepopup();'>USCIS priority mail.

19 March 2010 - Petition Approval date..... approval letter arrived in mail, it stated that the petition approval was being forwarded to US Consulate in Naples and that the beneficiary would be contacted with instructions for the visa

06 May 2010 - emailed Naples to follow up on next step ( wasnt sure if i should expect a letter, email etc).. got an out of office reply stating emails take up to 2 weeks for a reply

12 May 2010 - email reply stating that they emailed me packet on April 13th (which i never received so it pays to follow up)....... they reattached the info which contains the same instructions as listed on embassy website so i suggest you start preparing these docs as soon as you start the visa process.. I wasn't in a hurry for the visa, but we could've saved a couple months of processing time.

13 or 14 May 2010 .. - faxed part I of application.

24 June 2010 - faxed applicant's statement advising that we had documents prepared for interview.. like i mentioned i wasn't in a particular hurry so obviously a bunch of time couldve been shaved off the time line.

14 July 2010 - unsure of next step, I emailed Naples to ask if we are to call for appointment or wait to be contacted...... out of office reply advising 2 weeks for a reply..... (we left for vacation for 10 days)

27 july 2010 - still no email reply upon return from vacation, so called the consulate directly... Be warned. I found this to be VERY frustrating.. you have a recorded message that lasts about 5 minutes, at the end of the recording it advises that you need to enter credit card info to speak to someone, and if the call drops, there is a way to reconnect without paying again...... YES, the call dropped about 5 times. more than being dropped, the recording while on hold advises it is disconnecting me bc the operators are still busy and to try again (my credit card was charged, i think *I* should be the one to decide if I want to continue holding LOL) anyway, to reconnect you have to go through the entire recording again..... very very irritating and i gave up this first day.

29 July 2010 - another charge on credit card to speak to someone at consulate and after being disconnected about 5 times AGAIN, i FINALLY got through to someone to follow up. She advised that I could indeed book the visa appointment at that time . the first dates she offered was 31 Aug/1 Sept which I happily accepted.. Email confirmation of appointment arrived as we spoke.

31 August 2010 medical appointment at istituto varelli and fingerprinting back at consulate

01 September 2010 visa appointment at consulate

05 October 2010 - we leave for the US!!

Hi all,

I am a USC and have filed I-130 for my husband in New Delhi India. We filed I-130 3~4 days back. At the time of filling we have almost all documents(inclusing thoose that would be needing at he time of interview say bonafide of marriage, letters bank accounts an all), The security personell who escorted us to the counsellor gave us a checklist of the documents required for filling I -130 petition. and said we need to put only thoose documents for filing our petition. The counseller asked us some basic questions as to since how long ur were living in India to which i said 2 years and on which visa did you entered india to which i said visitor visa and some other question as to when were you married and stuff. She then requested some more snaps thatw e have provided and said that pay the fee and gave us a acceptance letter with the numbers. She said we will be getting a packet including all the details as to what all documents and forms we need to submit and the interview date and requirements within 30 days.

Right now i was checking the embassy website and it says
"The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi accepts I-130 petitions from U.S. citizens who reside in India. U.S. citizens whose principal residence is not in India, and/or are abroad temporarily as a visitor or on business, must file the petition in the United States.
If you are not eligible to file in New Delhi, you should file the petition with the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service Center having jurisdiction over your place of residence or last residence in the United States. Lawful Permanent Residents must file the petition in the United States.
Evidence of Residence
Proof of such residency will include a U.S. passport with an appropriate long-term, valid Indian visa and a Registration Report and Residential Permit issued by the Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the Government of India. Additional evidence should include, but is not limited to, on-going employment in India, taxes paid in India, rent/property receipts, and utility receipts in India."

Now I am living in India for more than two years and I have also registered myself in FRRO office however neither they asked me for the FRRO certificate and nor they have mentioned thsi in the checklist.
the checklist is as below:
The I-130 instructions should be read and followed carefully
- The I-130 forms must be fully completed
- A fully completed G-325A form is required from both the US citizen and the Alien Relative (spousal cases)
In addition, we need the originals and one photocopy of certain documents needed to support your filing. We request that you present your petition with one photocopy of all documents used in support of your petition. Doing so will assist us in handling your petition in a timely manner.
If you are filing for a spouse, you will normally require the following documents:

- The US citizen's US passport biographical page
- The US citizen's Certificate of Naturalization, if available
- The Alien Relative's passport biographical page, if available
- The Alien Relative's birth certificate or school leaving certificate, if available
- The certified and registered Marriage Certificate
- Photographs of the wedding ceremony, if available
- If this was a Hindu Marriage and one of the two parties to the marriage is not a native Hindu, the conversion certificate showing conversion to the Hindu religion prior to the date of the marriage
- If either party was previously married, the registered and certified Final Divorce decree and/or Death Certificate, as applicable.
- Passport size photograph for each applicant.
I am worried now that do i need to send the FRRO certificate or I am fine without that.

Please Please advise
