UPGRADING A PETITION HELP!! F2B TO F1

Hey does anybody know that when the petitioner becomes a citizen how long it takes to upgrade the petition from F2B TO F1? I understand that you have to notify the embassy in writing with citizenship certificate of the petitioner.

Even though it states on the website that its an automatic conversion from what I under stand u still have to notify the NVC.

So again I wanna find out how long it takes (as in weeks/months) to upgrade!!

Thank you very much & God Bless.

This is not a suitable section to ask these questions, this is visa bulletin section plz put ur questions regarding this in 130 section.

Anyways, regarding ur question:
Just write a simple e-mail to NVC and request them to upgrade ur petition, dnt forget to attach scanned copy of Naturalization Certificate N-400 of ur petitioner. NVC will upgrade ur petition from 2B to F1, but i like to give u a little advice if ur PD is beyond 2007 then avoid to upgrade ur case to F1. In this year FY 2011, F2b will move much faster than F1. If ur PD is very close to F1 dates then u go can go ahead.

Hi, check first which visa category moves faster, if it is F2B just retain your category, otherwise, write to NVC and tell them that your petitioner has naturalized, and yes, enclose copy of petitioner's naturalization certificate.
