You don't calculate it - it is calculated for you. Download form I 864P for the current guidelines.

Did you follow the link and look at the chart? Look at the 125% column, for the number of people in your household plus the number of people you are sponsoring. In your case: you, your wife, your 4 kids, plus 5 immigrants = 11 people.

Does the form not make that clear for you? It's very straight forward and easy to read.

What is there to be confused about? The goal of this website for Do-It-Yourselfers (DIY) is to learn and do things on your own. It is not for you to come and get answers. We are not your lawyers hired to do things for you. We are here to help you learn.

Step 1. Do you live in Alaska, Hawaii, or another part of the US? Pick one of these three choices.

Step 2. Are you in the US Armed Forces and petitioning for a spouse or child? Pick 100% if yes or 125% if no.

Step 3. How many people are in your household (include immigrants you are petitioning for)? Count the people in your family and the number of intending immigrants.

Step 4. Use the dollar amount for eight household member and add the appropriate amount for each additional person. You have to do a little math yourself.
